Media representatives on assignment to the 2022 Visit to Canada of His Holiness Pope Francis who wish to participate in the Papal Visit media program, access the media centres or any other Papal Visit venue must obtain media accreditation.
The media accreditation process is open to journalists (print, radio, television, film, news agencies and online media) who are on assignment with a bona fide media organization.
Individuals performing journalistic functions who do not work for a media organization and are unable to provide a letter of assignment will have to provide proof of recent publications under the applicant’s by-line that can be readily found in the public realm.
Government officials, representatives or observers will not be accredited as media.
The application process for media accreditation has now closed, and there will be no opportunity for accreditation on-site. Members of the media who have not yet added the required documentation to their in-progress application should contact mediaaccreditationmedias@international.gc.ca for assistance.
Applications will be processed prior to the start of the Papal Visit. Accreditation confirmation will be issued only after a security screening performed by competent Government of Canada authorities.
Should the number of media accreditation applicants exceed capacity, a limit on the number of media applicants permitted per organization will be necessary to accommodate the broadest representation from as many media organizations as possible.
Media representatives who have been approved for accreditation will be provided instructions through email on when and where to pick up their badges.Note that accreditation badges must be worn by media at all times during the Papal Visit. If your badge is lost or stolen, you must immediately go to the Accreditation Office.
